The Denton County Sheriff’s Office canceled a Silver Alert on Saturday after 84-year-old Nicholas French was found.

He was reported missing Friday after being seen in the 1400 block of Plover Circle around 5 p.m. Authorities believed his disappearance posed a threat to his health and safety and a Silver Alert was issued Friday around 11 p.m. The alert was discontinued Saturday at 11 a.m.

He has been found safe. Thanks to all that have helped,” the Ponder Volunteer Fire Department posted on their Facebook page.

The Ponder Volunteer Fire Department said in a Facebook post that French has Alzheimer’s and left from a care facility located on Plover Circle off Knight Lane. He doesn’t know the area, but is said to be “very active and mobile.”

The search for French was called off for the night around 12:45 a.m. Saturday and resumed again Saturday morning, according to the Ponder Volunteer Fire Department. The public was asked to help with the search by checking their security cameras and property in or around outbuildings.

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office led the search for French, but other agencies around Dallas-Fort Worth assisted. Specialized equipment including drones, helicopters and tracking dogs, was also used.
