If you’ve been scorned, today may not be your best day.

But don’t get mad – or even.

The Southlake Police Department suggests instead spending a little quality time with “Firefighter Liam” at its police and fire headquarters. He’s “WAY better than your ex,” the department tweeted Tuesday.

Liam may be a dummy (literally), but he has his good qualities, too.

Like, “he changes his smoke detector batteries quarterly. He keeps a fire extinguisher in his kitchen for when cooking gets too…hot.”

In fact, you can go to the police building any time before 4 p.m. to “grab a selfie” with Firefighter Liam “and let him whisper all of those sezzy fire tips in your ear (like cleaning your wood burning chimney annually or more) and take the photo of your lifetime.”

Posing with Firefighter Liam is a wiser way to respond to unrequited love than, say, getting mad and committing a crime “like Carrie Underwood suggested in song.”

While Southlake police uses social media to get word out about typical crimes and emergencies around town, like most police departments do, its Twitter account with about 22,000 followers is also known for its witty sense of humor.

For example, after Bruce Springstein’s concert Friday night in Dallas, the department tweeted “to all of our ‘stately’ fair citizens, please drive home safe and sober from that Bruce Springsteen concert, whether you live on Division Street or E Street. Pop two Tylenols too, cause your back is gonna need it in the morning after you were Dancing in the Dark all night.”

And during the recent ice storm, which closed schools for days, Southlake police tweeted that while road conditions were improving, drivers should still pay attention to bridges and overpasses. “Bundle up today AND GET THESE KIDS BACK IN SCHOOL OMG OMG in Southlake and beyond!”
