One person is dead after a plane crash near Decatur on Friday afternoon, Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV reported.

A twin-engine Cessna 421C crashed in a field near Decatur around 4 p.m. after departing from Denton Enterprise Airport, WFAA reported.

The pilot was the only person on board. Family members identified the pilot as Sanger resident Tony Featherstone, 57, according to the Denton Record-Chronicle.

“He was the most generous and unselfish and loving man I’ve ever known,” his wife, Margaret Duncan Featherstone, told the Record-Chronicle.
