A contained fire incident at an Oncor substation in Irving was probably responsible for widespread power issues across the Dallas-Fort Worth area late Monday night, officials said.

Kerri Dunn, a spokesperson for Oncor, said one piece of equipment was affected, and approximately 2,000 customers had to be switched to a different delivery method.

Dunn said customers may have experienced a power surge during the process.
