An Arlington man is accused of setting a fire in his home and then shooting a weapon before he was arrested by Arlington police. No injuries were reported in the incident.

A man who set an Arlington home on fire and fired a gun inside of the residence kept Arlington police at bay for a short time Tuesday before he was found outside, authorities said Wednesday.

The man was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation and booked into the Arlington Jail early Wednesday.

Jail records identified the suspect as Barry Hatley of Arlington. He faces charges of arson, terroristic threat, discharging a firearm in a municipality, and public intoxication

No injuries were reported in the incident, but some residents were evacuated and a school was briefly put on lockdown, according to police.

Arlington police responded to the home near Davis Street and Park Row Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The caller reported that a roommate was attempting to set the home on fire and he was shooting a gun inside.

Arriving officers established a perimeter around the residence, and the caller and nearby residents were moved to safe locations. A nearby school also was briefly placed on lockdown, and officials made safe evacuations to awaiting parents.

At the scene, Arlington police saw a small amount of smoke coming from the rear of the house, but it quickly dissipated.

Attempts to contact the suspect inside were unsuccessful, but the suspect was later seen on foot outside of the house and taken into custody without incident, police said.
