A fire in Parker County is currently burning 50 acres of land and threatening several structures in Millsap, according to officials.

The fire is near the 200 block of Wilson Bend Road.

Parker County Fire Marshal Sean Hughes said one out building has already been lost to the fire and the Texas A&M Forest Service is at the scene to assist.

Hughes said the forward spread of the fire has been stopped and crews are working to completely contain and extinguish the blaze. About 20 structures are currently being protected and there are no mandatory evacuation orders in place at this time.

Star-Telegram news partner WFAA-TV reported the fire is between Millsap Elementary School and Midpoint Chapel, with Texas A&M Forest Service resources on scene.

Another fire in Hood County, north of Tolar, has already grown to at least 300 acres with 0% of the blaze contained, according to a county news release.

The fire started Wednesday and quickly grew in thick oak and juniper bush, according to the release. There are no evacuation orders in place, but Colony Road is closed from Tolar Highway to the railroad tracks.

Texas state troopers have created road blocks at the closures and traffic is being stopped because of the narrow road and to ensure the safety of first responders and the public, according to the release. The county has requested the assistance of the Texas A&M Forest Service as the fire moves north.

Parker and Hood counties, like most in Texas, are under a burn ban because of extreme drought conditions.
