Brush fire burns in Parker County outside Springtown; new blaze erupts in Hood County

A brush fire in Parker County had burned an estimated 172 acres and was active on Wednesday night, authorities said.

The fire, outside Springtown, was 50% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

In Hood County, a fire of 150 acres erupted and was 40% contained about 7 p.m. Wednesday, the forest service said.

In Wise County, people evacuated from a grass fire near Old Decatur Road and County Road 2372 were permitted on Wednesday to return home, county emergency management coordinator Cody Powell said, according to the Wise County Messenger.

The fire, near the grasslands north of Decatur, burned about 300 acres, the Messenger reported.
