COVID-19 vaccine for infants and toddlers available in Tarrant County starting June 22
Tarrant County Public Health announced Tuesday it will begin to offer COVID vaccines to children ages six months to five years at all county clinics, public pop-up clinics and the Vaxmobile starting Wednesday, June 22, according to a press release.
On June 18, Centers for Disease and Control Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky approved the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ recommendation that all children ages six months to five years receive a COVID vaccine.
Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available, according to the release.
Infants ages six months to four years taking the Pfizer vaccine will receive two doses, three weeks apart, and a third dose two months later. The dosage for children of the Pfizer vaccine is one-tenth of the dosage of adults, according to the release.
The Moderna vaccine for children six months to five years will be administered in two doses, four to eight weeks apart. The dosage for children for Moderna is a quarter of the dosage for adults. A third dose will be needed after at least one month after the second dose.
