A pilot was taken to a hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries after the Fort Worth Fire Department said a small airplane experienced mechanical failure and crash landed Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesman for MedStar said the pilot was in good condition but was taken to an area hospital for assessment.

The fire department said on social media that there was no danger to the public and that the pilot was the only person on board and had no serious injuries.

The single-engine plane went down in the area of 3500 Columbus Ave., near Meacham International Airport in north Fort Worth, around 2:20 p.m.

The pilot crash landed into a wooded field near the airport, the fire department said.
