Keene police ask for help identifying woman fatally struck by truck Thursday night

An unidentified woman who was walking on US Highway 67 in Keene was fatally hit by a pickup truck Thursday night.

The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the 4800 block of East US Highway 67, police said in a news release. Responding officers said they found the unresponsive woman lying on the roadway, where she was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said that a blue 2005 Ford F-150 was traveling on the highway when it struck the woman. The area is “not well-lit,” they added.

“The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, remained on scene, and cooperated with the investigation,” police said. “The investigation continues as to how the pedestrian entered the road.”

The woman has not been identified by the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Keene police are asking that anyone who may be able to identify her, or has additional information about the crash, should call 817-641-7831.

The highway, which was closed for about two hours Thursday night, has since reopened.
