Pedestrian hit, killed by truck as he tried to run across Mansfield highway, police say
A man who tried to run across a Mansfield highway was hit and killed Tuesday night by a truck, Mansfield police said.
The driver of the truck told Mansfield police he tried to avoid the man, but he was unable to do so.
The fatal accident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2800 block of Farm Road 917 in Mansfield.
The man was hit while he was in the roadway, Mansfield police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe the incident was an accident, and there were no other contributing factors.
The roadway was closed for several hours while police investigated the fatal crash.
The name of the man who died had not been released by authorities as of Wednesday.
