Condition improving for wife of Euless officer killed in Lake Worth crash, police say
The wife of a Euless police officer killed in a Lake Worth crash on Nov. 27 regained consciousness over the weekend and was moved out of ICU, the police department said in an update Wednesday.
Priscilla Cervantes, who was in the car with officer Alejandro “Alex” Cervantes and their two sons, was critically injured after another driver crashed into their car near Boat Club Road and Rocky Point Trail in Lake Worth.
Priscilla is now in a general hospital room and able to communicate verbally with family by her side, the department said. She continues to regain strength and has been able to drink liquids on her own.
“Though she has a very long road to recovery, her doctors are very pleased with her progress as she continues to make strides in her healing process,” officials said in the update.
Funeral arrangements for Alex Cervantes will be announced once Priscilla is well enough to make those decisions, Euless police said.
The Euless Police Officers Benevolent Organization has set up an account for those who wish to donate to the Cervantes family. Those who would like to donate can do so at https://bit.ly/3I4a6dC or by scanning a QR code using a smart phone camera.
The department said the donation link is the only one approved by the department and the Cervantes family.
Dylan Molina, 26, is accused of driving drunk and running a red light before the crash.
Blood test results show Molina had a blood alcohol level of 0.16, twice the legal limit and higher than the 0.14 shown in a preliminary breath test, police said in a news release Monday.
Molina has been charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter, one count of accident causing serious injury or death, three counts of intoxication assault and one count of possession of a controlled substance because of a THC vape pen he had, according to Lake Worth police.
