A 32-year-old Fort Worth man died after being hit by a car Friday night near Cresson.

The fatal auto-pedestrian accident occurred around 9 p.m. on US 377 in Cresson. Benito Sanchez-Diaz, 32, was trying to cross the highway “at an area not designated for pedestrian crossing and was standing in the center turn lane” when he was struck by a vehicle, investigators said.

The vehicle, driven by a 58-year-old Fort Worth resident, was traveling north on the highway and slowing to make a turn onto North Broadway Street, the Department of Public Safety said. As he was turning, he changed lanes, striking Sanchez-Diaz.

“Sanchez-Diaz was flown by air ambulance to a Fort Worth area hospital where he died from his injuries on Dec. 4,” the Department of Public Safety said.

A spokesperson for the department said no charges are expected to be filed at this time.
