The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Benbrook Water Authority to notify all affected customers to boil their water prior to consumption, which includes hand and face washing, brushing teeth and drinking, according to the town. Officials warned children, seniors and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria and all those affected should follow the boil notice.

Public water system officials will notify residents when the notice has been lifted and the water is safe for consumption purposes.
