Funeral held for North Texas firefighter who died while battling California wildfire
Funeral services were held Saturday for Diana Jones, 63, a firefighter and EMT with the Cresson Volunteer Fire Department who died in a vehicle accident Aug. 31 while fighting wildfires in California.
Jones, who left her job as a hairdresser at age 58 to become a firefighter, has been remembered for her dedication to her second career that led her to battle wildfires in other states and take on renovating the Cresson department’s training facility.
Her remains were moved in a procession that left from the Diana Jones Memorial Training Center, 9401 E. U.S. 377 in Cresson, to Granbury Church of Christ, 1905 W. Pearl St. in Granbury, where the funeral was held.
