After more positive West Nile virus samples, Tarrant County expanding spray areas
Health officials will spray for the West Nile virus in unincorporated areas of northeast and northwest Tarrant County beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday.
Officials confirmed mosquito samples were positive for the West Nile virus in the areas. Residents in the area will be notified. Spraying could last through 5 a.m. Friday.
The county announced it was spraying rural areas in southeast Tarrant County beginning Wednesday night.
Health officials confirmed the first human case and death from the West Nile virus in Tarrant County this year on July 21.
Officials have reported 162 positive mosquito samples of WNV in the Tarrant County region out of 2,215 total tests since April 1.
Officials urge residents to safeguard against WNV by dumping standing water on their property, use repellent, and whenever possible, dress in long pants and long sleeves during all hours of the day.
