Toddler found walking alone along Grapevine highway, police say; parents located

The Grapevine Police Department is working with Texas Child Protective Services after officers found a toddler walking along a highway early Friday morning and then — hours later — located his parents.

A driver spotted the boy, believed to be around 2 years old, on the southbound side of State Highway 121 near Hall-Johnson Road around 4:30 a.m., police said in a news release. He stopped to help the child and called 911, staying with him until police arrived.

The responding officers made sure the child wasn’t hurt before searching the neighborhood for anyone missing their child, police said. But they couldn’t find any sign of a parent, the department said, and there were no reports of missing children. So CPS took custody of the child.

About three hours later, Grapevine officers located his parents, police said. CPS is working with the family to figure out what will happen to the child.

Police didn’t say if the parents gave a reason for their son’s disappearance.
