Amber Alert canceled after missing 8-month-old girl from Dallas area is found safe
A mother and her 8-month-old daughter who were the subject of an Amber Alert out of Mesquite have been found safe, according to authorities.
The Amber Alert was canceled Tuesday morning.
The alert had been sent out Monday night for Nyla Crockett, who was last seen about 11:18 p.m. Friday in the 4800 block of North Galloway Avenue in Mesquite, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Police believed she was with her mother, 30-year-old Chernario Crockett.
Chernario Crockett’s mother reported Nyla missing on Friday, Mesquite police said. The criteria or information that led authorities to issue the Amber Alert was not revealed to investigators until Monday evening, Lt. Stephen Biggs said. He did not specify what information investigators received Monday that led to the Amber Alert.
Chernario Crockett took Nyla to the police department Tuesday morning to talk with investigators, police said. As of Tuesday afternoon, police did not think any charges would be filed against her.
