Boy hurt by falling equipment during weather delay at Texas Rangers game, lawsuit says

A child was seriously injured when he was hit on the head by falling equipment at a Texas Rangers baseball game in August, according to a lawsuit filed in Tarrant County on Wednesday.

The boy, referred to as A.B. in the lawsuit, was at a baseball game on Aug. 18, 2018, when the game was delayed due to severe weather, the suit says. As storms and high winds hit the stadium, fans waited for the game to resume.

Heavy equipment, including a large speaker and stand, fell onto a crowd of fans and vendors and hit A.B. on the head, according to the suit.

The child was knocked unconscious for several minutes and taken to a hospital in an ambulance.

The suit names Rangers Baseball Express LLC as a defendant, and A.B.’s family — who is from Parker County — is requesting between $200,000 and $1 million in relief.

A spokesman for the Rangers LLC said they do not have any comment on the suit.

On the day of the game, torrential rain delayed play between the Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels twice.
