Man dies at Fort Worth hospital from self-inflicted gunshot wound, police investigating

The death of a 45-year-old man who shot himself early Wednesday is being investigated by officers with Baylor Scott and White Medical Center.

The Azle man was pronounced dead about 4:05 a.m. in a room on the seventh floor of the hospital, located in the 1400 block of Eighth Avenue, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website.

A hospital official would not confirm whether the man was a patient.

The hospital released the following statement:

“The safety and security of everyone on our campus is a top priority. We want to thank our staff and public safety department for quickly responding to an incident early this morning when a weapon was discharged on our campus. The self-inflicted injury was fatal, and we are working with those involved to provide emotional and psychological support. As this situation is currently under investigation, we are limited on the information that can be provided at this time.”
