Police are investigating a fatal single-car accident in which the driver was thrown from a car on Interstate 20 Thursday evening.

The driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 700 block of West Interstate 20 near Matlock Road.

The driver was traveling east and lost control of the car, left the road and rolled up an embankment about 6:15 p.m., according to an Arlington Police news release.

Police closed two eastbound lanes for about two hours while investigators worked on the wreck.
