Raw deal: Denny’s calls cops on customer upset about uncooked chicken

Marcus Brown wasn’t going to pay an Arlington Denny’s $4.32 for a plate of raw chicken.

“That’s straight out the chicken,” he said on a video posted to his Twitter page.

But while he warned other customers about the food — “They’re out here selling raw chicken,” he told them — the restaurant’s manager called the cops.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight Sunday at the Denny’s on North Watson Road near Six Flags.

“Hi, I have some unruly customers,” the woman can be seen saying over the phone on the Twitter video.

Brown told her “I could really sue, y’all,” and then he zoomed his camera to show the undercooked poultry.

Brown, 19, said the manager had agreed to take the chicken strips off of his bill, but she didn’t want to cook him new food.

Police arrived and Brown paid for the other food that he and his friends ate, said police spokesman Steven Bartolotta.

“It didn’t even rise to the level of a report needing to be filed,” Bartolotta said.

Brown said he ate half of one of the chicken strips when he noticed “it was chewy and rubbery.” He also said that when he showed the chicken to several other customers, they left the restaurant.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Brown said nobody from Denny’s had contacted him to apologize for serving him raw chicken.

Denny’s could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.
