An Arlington man died Wednesday from injuries he sustained after getting hit by an Arlington school district security vehicle earlier this month.

Charles Sherwood, 47, was hit in the 2700 block of South Cooper Street, near the intersection of California Lane, on July 1, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Sherwood died at Medical Center of Arlington.

The driver of the vehicle, an Arlington school district security officer, was on duty at the time and “cooperated fully” with the investigation, said Leslie Johnston, a school district spokeswoman.

The security officer was not cited.

“The accident is a terrible tragedy,” Johnston said. “We are keeping the Sherwood family in our thoughts and prayers.”
