Antonio Galvan, 45, was found dead near Alvarado on Monday morning.

The body of a missing Arlington man was found next to a hand-dug grave at a marijuana grow site near Alvarado on Monday morning, Johnson County Sheriff Bob Alford said.

Antonio Galvan, 45, was found about 9:10 a.m. in a wooded area about 160 yards behind a house in the 5000 block of County Road 410 south of Alvarado.

Alford said deputies found Galvan fully clothed with an apparent gunshot wound and dirt thrown over part of his body.

Johnson County deputies went to the property Sunday night after Galvan’s family in Arlington reported him missing. The family told the sheriff’s office Galvan might be at the property.

When deputies arrived, they found a man coming out of woods with his hands covered in dirt and “sweating profusely,” Alford said.

The man was taken into custody on suspicion of growing marijuana. Authorities found cultivated plants throughout the property and a large indoor hydroponic grow house, Alford said.

When asked about a missing person, the man’s story “just wasn’t adding up,” Alford said.

Another man at the property was also taken into custody. Both men are considered persons of interest in Galvan’s death, Alford said.

Their names have not been released.
