No soup for Arlington attorney, but plenty of online backlash

Last week, the longtime attorney Dwain Downing fired off a certified demand letter to Our Place Restaurant in Mansfield.

As the Star-Telegram reported on Friday, Downing’s letter demanded $2.25 in damages and also $250 in attorney’s fees — his hourly rate — because Downing didn’t get a cup of soup as part of a lunch special order during a recent visit.

The restaurant posted the letter to its Facebook page, and to say the story has gone viral is an understatement.

Downing said he no longer plans to sue, partly because of cyberbullying and threats that he says resulted from the exposure. Full report on WFAA.com
