Arlington police: Man killed himself in Lowe’s parking lot

A man fatally shot himself Monday evening in a car in the parking lot of a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Arlington, police said.

Officers responded about 5 p.m. to a disturbance at the Lowe’s in the 1000 block of Arbrook Boulevard, near the Parks Mall and Interstate 20.

Police “believed the man was armed” and locked the store down and blocked entrances to the parking lot, police spokeswoman Zhivionni McDonnell said.

“We called in an armored vehicle as the person in the vehicle would not respond to commands,” McDonnell said.

Police confirmed the man was dead about 7:30 p.m.
