Take a ride on a virtual (real) roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas

Hands up. Lap bar down. Virtual reality head set on.

Since the start of Spring Break, the new virtual reality roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas has wowed thrill-seekers, immersing riders on the double-loop Shockwave coaster into an alien space fight.

“It takes riding to a different dimension,” said Arlington resident and coaster enthusiast S. Madonna Horcher. “The g-force is just so different with the film in front of you.”

Season pass holders can ride the coaster during Spring Break. It will open up to the general public on March 26. It does not cost anything extra to use the virtual reality part of the ride. However, kids ages twelve and under will not be allowed to use the device.

The Star-Telegram got a chance to put on the virtual reality gear created by Samsung and Oculus on Monday, so check out the video and come along with us as we shoot down aliens trying to invade Earth.
