Pedestrian killed on U.S. 287 in southwest Arlington

A pedestrian whose vehicle may have broken down nearby was strck and killed by a pickup at about midnight Saturday on southbound U.S. 287 near Turner Warnell Road, police said.

The victim, who will be identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office, appears to have been walking in the highway’s outside main lane for an unknown reason, police said.

The driver of the pickup stopped and called 911 and is not expected to face charges, police said.
