Woman wanted by Arlington police and killed in wreck is identified

A woman wanted by Arlington police on a felony warrant has been identified days after she was killed in a wreck.

Officers were looking for the woman Friday night at an apartment complex when she got into a vehicle that then sped away, police said in a previous news release.

The driver, an unidentified 40-year-old man, lost control of the vehicle in the 2200 block of Randy Snow Road, crossed into the oncoming lane, hit a curb and a wooden fence and then smashed into a tree, according to police.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He had not been identified by Monday night.

Ashley Harris, 22, a passenger, died at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford at 10:29 p.m. Friday, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Officers were not actively pursuing the vehicle when it wrecked because the driver had already “gained a great deal of distance,” Lt. Chris Cook, an Arlington police spokesman, wrote in an email.

Officer were notified of the crash by a nearby resident, he said.

Harris was wanted on a warrant for aggravated assault on a peace officer.
