A campus technology manager at Boles Junior High in Arlington was arrested Thursday after child pornography was found on a flash drive he owned, police said.

George Spencer McKee, 56, was immediately fired, a school district spokeswoman said.

Investigators found nude images of girls between 13 and 15 posing in a “sexual manner commonly seen in adult porn photos” on a flash drive he owned, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram on Thursday.

McKee faces a felony charge of possession of child pornography. He remained in the Arlington jail Thursday night with bail set at $5,000. The charge is punishable by two to 10 years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.

McKee had worked at Boles sine May 20, 2014, where he had “extremely limited contact with the students,” Leslie Johnston, the district spokeswoman, said.

“He was immediately terminated when his name was provided to the district,” she said.

District officials called police on Aug. 5 after a janitor found the flash drive while cleaning at the Arlington school administration building at 1203 W. Pioneer Parkway.

A secretary who first opened images on the drive “in the interest of trying to locate the owner” on Aug. 5 found pictures of a young girl posing nude, the warrant states.

McKee is also accused of writing stories that illustrate his “desire to have sex with an underage girl,” according to the affidavit.

Though it’s still early in the investigation, it doesn’t appear that any of the children on the drive are Arlington students or Boy Scout members, according to a news release from Arlington police spokesman Lt. Chris Cook.

The Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America confirmed that McKee was an adult leader.

The organization declined to answer questions about McKee’s involvement with the program or whether he might have worked with former Arlington Scout leader Ray W. Howland.

Howland was arrested in July after Arlington police said he arranged what he thought was a sexual encounter with a mother and her 10-year-old daughter, but was really a contact with an undercover cop.

In response to emailed questions about McKee’s involvement with the program, Scout Executive John Coyle replied with the same response sent after Howland’s arrest:

Let me start by saying that the behavior included in these allegations is abhorrent, unacceptable, and runs counter to everything for which the Boy Scouts of America stands. At this time, while these allegations appear to be unrelated to Scouting, we have removed this individual from Scouting and precluded him from any further participation in the program.”

The email goes on to state that Scouts require at least two adults to be present at all outings.

Johnston said the school district followed “all applicable law” for criminal background checks and did reference checks before hiring McKee.
