Dallas police officer faces Arlington prostitution charge

A Dallas police corporal surrendered Wednesday to face a prostitution charge in a case that started after he called Arlington police for help when he was robbed while a prostitute was giving him oral sex, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Dallas police Senior Cpl. Marqueon Skinner, 35, did a “walk-through” with his attorney at the Tarrant County Jail Wednesday afternoon, Lt. Chris Cook, an Arlington police spokesman, said.

Prostitution is a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and/or a fine up to $2,000.

On June 30, police were called to an apartment complex in the 300 block of Bardin Greene Drive where Skinner told officers that he contacted Ashley Briona Hughes online through a Craigslist ad and agreed to pay her $60 for oral sex, according to the affidavit filed by an Arlington officer assigned to a unit that investigates prostitution.

In a written statement provided to detectives, Skinner said that when he first arrived at the apartment he went straight to the back bedroom where another woman was. He told police the other woman left the apartment to get a condom. Unable to find one, Hughes began to give Skinner oral sex when the other woman returned to the room with two men. One was armed with a gun.

“Skinner ran from the apartment naked and called the police,” according to the affidavit.

An Arlington officer who searched the apartment found an open condom on the bed, and underwear, flip flops, sunglasses, a phone case, cell phone battery and a city of a Dallas parking tag.

Hughes was arrested on outstanding warrants and detained in the Arlington city jail. On July 1 Hughes told detectives that she is a prostitute and did indeed put an ad on Craiglist.

Dallas police put Skinner on administrative leave pending the criminal and administrative investigations, according to a statement. Skinner has been with the department since February 2004, and was assigned to the Support Services Division.

A Dallas police spokesman declined to comment.

Hughes’ jail booking photo was not available Wednesday night.
