Roach infestation found at Arlington restaurant inspection; two businesses shut

Two Arlington restaurants were temporarily closed, and a roach infestation was found at one during the latest round of city health inspections, according to the latest report.

Arlington restaurants are scored on a 100-point system, with 100 being a perfect score. Restaurants and other places that serve food that score 75 or less require a follow-up inspection, and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor.

The report, compiled by the Star-Telegram, contains data from March 22 through April 4 and 145 inspections.

Two closed for serious violations

  • Gyro and wings at 3811 S. Cooper St., Suite 2142, scored 76 and was temporarily closed during a health inspection on March 30. Health inspectors noted violations including lack of hot water, unsafe food storage and improper manual ware-washing procedures, poor cleanliness and equipment that needed repair. The restaurant reopened on April 1 after corrections to the critical violations were verified during a follow-up inspection.
  • Beirut Grill at 2410 W. Abram St., Suite 126, scored 83 and was temporarily closed during a health inspection on April 1. Health inspectors observed roach infestation, poor overall cleanliness, food surfaces covered in residue and unsafe food storage. The restaurant reopened on April 2 after a follow-up inspection.

Three restaurants failed inspections:

  • Famous Cajun Grill at 3811 S. Cooper St., Suite 2154, a repeat offender, failed an inspection March 30 due to improper cold and hot holding, unsafe cooling procedures and food storage. Health inspectors also noted deficiencies such as lack of handwashing, unacceptable sanitizer usage, and accumulation of food residue on non-food equipment. The restaurant, which scored 68, failed its last regular inspection in September 2025.
  • iCAFE at 150 S. Cooper St., failed a health inspection April 2 due to improper date markings for food storage, unsanitary use of wiping cloths and food-contact equipment. Health inspectors also noted record-keeping deficiencies, such as food packaging, food establishment permit, and food manager certificates. The café scored 69.
  • Lupe’s Tex Mex Grill at 770 E Road To Six Flags St., Suite 178, failed a routine health inspection March 31 due to violations including improper cold and hot holding, unsafe food storage, bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat foods, lack of handwashing supplies and equipment in need of repair or cleaning. The restaurant scored 69.

Three other restaurants scored 75 or less during this inspection cycle:

  • Pho Nho Restaurant at 2404 S. Collins St. Score: 72.
  • Splendid China at 5975 S. Cooper St., Suite 121B. Score: 73.
  • Connie’s Wing Plus at 3415 S. Collins St., Suite 113. Score: 74.
