Man found dead along U.S. 287 in Mansfield is identified

A man found dead Monday morning on a sidewalk near the service road of U.S. 287 near Callender Road has been identified.

Charles Williams, 69, was pronounced dead at 6:38 a.m. Monday, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office reported. The cause and manner of his death was not listed by Monday afternoon.

A motorist called 911 about 6:30 a.m. to report seeing a body on the sidewalk.

Officers found no identification on the body.

Police must wait for the medical examiner to determine the cause of death before investigators can determine whether foul play was involved, said Officer Thad Penkala, a police spokesman.
