An ammonia leak Wednesday night caused the evacuation of the first and second floors of The Parks Mall at Arlington, according to officials with the Arlington Fire Department.

At around 6:36 p.m., an ammonia detector near the mall’s ice skating rink alerted staff to a leak, officials said.

Crews evacuated the area surrounding the ice rink and stopped the leak by 7:04 p.m. After the leak was stopped, there were no detectable levels of ammonia, and patrons were let back in, officials said.

No one was injured, and the cause of the leak is not known at this time.
