High-speed car crash in Arlington kills a 30-year-old woman, police say
A 30-year-old woman died in a single-car crash in Arlington on Wednesday morning, Jan. 15, police said.
Shortly after midnight, officers responded to the 2800 block of North Collins Street, to a report of a vehicle that had hit a light pole at the northwest corner of the intersection.
Upon arrival, officers found a white 2018 Kia Forte with significant damage. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the car left the roadway and drove over the curb before striking the pole, police said.
Crash investigators determined that high speed was a factor in the collision and that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, police said.
Police said alcohol has not been ruled out as a possible contributing factor in the accident.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the driver’s identity once her next of kin have been notified.
