53-year-old woman dies after being struck by car in Arlington, according to police
A 53-year-old pedestrian was killed in a crash in Arlington on Friday.
Officers respond to the intersection of Matlock Road and Turner Warnell Road around 6:21 a.m. to investigate a two-vehicle crash.
While on the way, officers were notified that one of the drivers involved in that crash had exited her vehicle and was hit by another vehicle passing through the intersection.
When officers arrived on scene, they found the woman lying unresponsive on the ground. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased from her injuries, police said.
The woman was driving a 2021 BMW sedan traveling northbound on Matlock Road. As she was passing through the intersection at Turner Warnell Road, the driver of a 2010 Lexus sedan in the southbound lanes of Matlock Road attempted to make a left turn onto Turner Warnell and collided with the BMW.
The woman then exited her vehicle to check on the driver of the Lexus and to exchange insurance information. As she attempted to cross the intersection to get to the Lexus, she was struck by a 2014 Nissan Sentra that was traveling northbound along Matlock Road, police said.
Police said the driver of the Sentra immediately stopped and was cooperative with the investigation. He is not currently facing any criminal charges in connection to this incident.
Police said the driver of the Lexus was not seriously injured.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the woman who died.
