A 17-year-old driver died in north Arlington on Tuesday, Oct. 22, after being ejected from his vehicle in a crash, police said.

Officers responded to the 2800 block of North Collins Street shortly before 10 p.m. regarding a single-vehicle accident. According to police, witnesses said the 2007 Toyota Sienna minivan was traveling south at a high rate of speed before it hit a curb and went airborne.

The minivan flipped several times and landed in a field. Police said the driver, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office hasn’t publicly identified the 17-year-old.

The Arlington Police Department said it urges everyone to wear a seat belt while in a vehicle and to always obey the speed limit.
