Arlington educator, alleged to have tied up students, no longer employed, district says
An educator who was investigated over allegations of tying up students and putting tape on their mouths is no longer with the Arlington Independent School District, school officials said Friday.
The Goodman Elementary School employee was placed on leave after the district received a report on Sept. 6 regarding the incident, district officials said in an initial statement.
While the district did not identify the employee or give the age of the students, district officials and campus administrators notified parents that same day regarding the allegations, according to the statement.
Arlington police were working with the district to investigate the reports. Police told the Star-Telegram they determined no children were injured, no child’s movements or breathing were ever restricted and no criminal offense occurred.
In a statement issued Friday, the school district said none of the internal investigations found evidence of physical harm to students.
Out of respect for the privacy of former and current educators, district officials did not specify if the employee resigned or if was terminated from their position.
