Two Arlington officers treated for minor injuries after ‘inadvertent’ shotgun discharge

Two Arlington officers suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning when they were struck by some fragments during a training exercise at the firing range.

Tiara Richard, an Arlington police spokeswoman, said several employees were on the firing range at the Training Center conducting annual qualifications when the incident occurred.

“There was an inadvertent discharge that occurred during the shotgun qualification portion with a round striking the ground near the two employees,” Richard said in an email.

Richard said the two officers were treated at a minor emergency clinic and are expected to be fine.
