Adopt a furry friend at Arlington Animal Services with no adoption fee
In need of a new furry friend? Well good news, the Arlington Animal Services is waiving pet adoption fees from Aug. 10-17, as part of NBCUniversal Local’s “Clear The Shelters” campaign. This initiative, aimed at finding loving homes for cats and dogs, is sponsored by NBC and Telemundo stations nationwide.
Here are the participating shelters:
▪ Arlington Animal Shelter, 1000 S.E. Green Oaks Blvd.
▪ PetSmart at the Arlington Highlands, 203 E. Interstate 20 (10 a.m.-2 p.m., Aug. 10)
▪ Petco, 4001 W. Green Oaks Blvd., Suite 159 (10 a.m.-2 p.m., Aug. 17)
The Arlington Animal Shelter operates at capacity, caring for over 4,283 animals so far this year, a 19% increase from 2023, according to the city of Arlington. Normally, adoption fees are $100 for dogs and $90 for cats, covering spaying/neutering, city licenses, microchipping, core vaccines, rabies vaccine and Heartworm/FeLV/FIV testing services.
