‘Never forgotten’: Arlington elementary student, 10, killed when crossing road after school
A 10-year-old Arlington elementary student died after she was struck by two vehicles while crossing the street after school Thursday, officials said.
Liyah-Grace Holsey, a fifth-grade student at Mary Moore Elementary, died at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth around 9 p.m., about five hours after the accident, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Anita Foster, a spokesperson for the Arlington Independent School District, said they are heartbroken.
“Liyah-Grace was a wonderful student who loved to sing so much that she joined the choir and never missed a practice,” district officials said in a news release. “She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.”
Officers responded to the intersection of Park Springs Boulevard and Sublett Road shortly before 4 p.m. for an auto-pedestrian collision involving a child, police said in a news release. The girl was taken to Cook Children’s hospital in critical condition.
Investigators believe Liyah-Grace was attempting to cross the street from the north side of Sublett Road when she was hit by two vehicles, according to police.
Both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. No criminal charges have been filed against them.
