Moped driver killed on Arlington highway by hit-and-run driver
Police searched on Wednesday for a motorist who drove away after hitting and killing a moped driver on Texas 360 on Tuesday night.
Authorities had not released the name of the victim as of Wednesday morning.
Police did not release any details on the vehicle that hit the victim.
Officers responded to the major accident call about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Texas 360 in the southbound lanes.
Witnesses told police that the moped and a 2003 BMW were southbound on the highway when the moped driver tried to change lanes and hit the passenger side of the BMW.
On impact, the moped driver was thrown off his vehicle and hit by another vehicle that failed to stop, police said. The BMW driver stopped and offered assistance.
Other motorists also stopped and directed traffic around the victim who was on the highway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
