Arlington police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a man early Tuesday morning, the Arlington Police Department said in a news release.

At around 4 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a crash in the 1200 block of Avenue H East.

Investigators believe the driver of a 2009 Ford Focus was traveling in the westbound lanes when the car drove over a curb attached to the median and hit a city sign. The car then hit a tree and came to a stop, according to the release.

The driver of the Ford, a 49-year-old man, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s identity once next of kin have been notified.
