A driver was killed in Arlington Monday morning when the Camaro he was in crashed into an 18-wheeler at the intersection of East Pioneer Parkway and Forum Drive, according to police.

Witnesses told officers the Chevrolet Camaro tried to change lanes when both vehicles were in the intersection around 10 a.m. Monday. When the Camaro changed lanes, it hit the loaded 53-foot trailer in the back, behind the rear axles, causing the car to become lodged underneath.

The driver of the Camaro, who will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, died at the scene, according to police.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured and remained at the scene to talk to police.

Authorities said they believe speed was a factor in the crash.
