A man was killed Tuesday morning when he was hit by a train while walking on the tracks in the 300 block of West Front Street in Arlington, according to a news release by police.

Police responded around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday to reports that a train traveling westbound through downtown Arlington hit a pedestrian, according to the news release. The impact killed the man. Authorities do not yet know why he was on the tracks.

No other injuries were reported and the train did not derail, according to police. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash resulted in the closure of multiple downtown Arlington railroad crossings for about two hours Tuesday while police investigated the death and crews worked to clear the accident scene. All crossings have been reopened.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the man after his next-of-kin has been notified.
