Driver, 18, dies in Arlington car collision in which police say speed was factor
An 18-year-old driver died on Monday at an Arlington intersection in a collision in which speed was a factor, police said.
Jawad Salame was driving a BMW 428i north on West Green Oaks Boulevard when about 6 p.m. he ran a red light and collided with a Nissan Pathfinder that was eastbound on Waterview Drive, authorities said, attributing the account to witnesses.
The impact caused the BMW to strike a light pole in a median and roll, Arlington police said.
Salame was pronounced dead at the intersection. Paramedics at the scene treated and released the Pathfinder’s driver.
Salame died of blunt force injuries, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. He lived in Fort Worth, the office reported.
