Woman in motorized wheelchair struck, killed by SUV in Arlington intersection, police say
A woman trying to cross a street in a motorized wheelchair died on Tuesday when she was struck at an Arlington intersection by a sport utility vehicle, police said.
A 2015 Ford Explorer was traveling south on New York Avenue when about 6:30 p.m. it struck Patricia Owens, 66, at SE Green Oaks Boulevard, Arlington police said.
Southbound traffic on New York Avenue had a green light at the time and had started moving through the intersection when Owens entered a crosswalk, police said, attributing the information to witnesses.
Owens died of blunt force injuries at a hospital about 80 minutes after she was struck, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The woman who was driving the SUV will not be charged, police said.
