Student rescued after falling into storm drain at Swift Elementary School in Arlington
A student from an Arlington elementary school was rescued after falling into a storm drain Friday afternoon, according to Arlington Independent School District officials.
The student fell into a storm drain at Swift Elementary School, at 101 S. Fielder Road in Arlington, about 3:30 p.m., district officials announced.
The Arlington Fire Department responded to the scene and worked over an hour to free 11-year-old girl, according to Star-Telegram partner WFAA-TV. Fire officials told WFAA that the girl dropped her grandmother’s apron, which she had worn for career day, down the drain. The student got stuck while trying to reach the apron.
The girl was taken to a hospital to be checked out, WFAA reported.
Arlington ISD officials said they would provide more details as soon as possible.
