Man trapped in pipe at Arlington water treatment plant rescued by fire department
A man inside a pipe at the Arlington water treatment plant had to be rescued by fire and medical crews Monday, according to a news release from the city.
The man, a contractor working at the plant, was inside a 54-inch water transmission line at the Pierce-Burch Water Treatment Plant.
Fire and rescue personnel responded around 9 a.m. to the treatment plant, at 1901 Lakewood Drive in Arlington, according to the news release.
The man’s arm was trapped after a safety device known as a plug was removed, according to the city. The pipe, buried six feet down, had been drained of water to replace a damaged portion.
After he was rescued around 10 a.m. from the pipe, the man was taken to a hospital in an ambulance, according to the city.
The worker’s condition was not immediately available.
