Driver, 18, dies at hospital two weeks after Arlington collision; passenger also died

The driver of a car that two weeks ago struck two other vehicles in Arlington in a collision in which police suggested that speed was a factor died on Saturday.

Triston John, 18, died at a hospital in Collin County, Arlington police said on Monday.

The collision occurred on Feb. 4 in the 4000 block of South Center Street. A passenger in the car John was driving, Silvano Bent, 20, of DeSoto, died of blunt force head injuries, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Bent was pronounced dead at a hospital about a half hour after the collision.

John was driving a Ford Mustang north and lost control as he tried to switch lanes, crossed a median and collided with the two other vehicles, police said. A fire erupted in the Mustang.

The occupants of the other vehicles were not seriously injured, police said.
